How to Choose the Right Size of Lampshade
At Hill & May we don't consider that there is a strict formula for choosing the correct shape and size of a lampshade.
One way to help with choosing proportions for your new lampshades is to try other shades from around your house. Even if they are wrong they will give you a better idea.
We always advise going on the larger side and make sure that the shade is tall enough to cover the lamp base fitting.
One general rule is that the lampshade width should be wider than the widest part of the lamp base.
We will give you a reducer ring with each lampshade you purchase so as to ensure your shade will fit snugly on your lamp base fitting.
Please do contact Sarah at email@example.com to chat through your sizing conundrum if you are unsure of which size and style to order. You can always send over photos of the lamp and the room the shade is going into over to us and we’ll happily advise you.
