Flogas gas bottle prices on its online shop, checked on 21 October 2026, put an 11kg propane bottle at £51.44 and a 13kg butane bottle at £56.69, including VAT, if you hand back an empty bottle to swap. With nothing to swap, you pay a £47.50 cylinder charge on top, and Flogas says that charge is non-refundable. The two sizes most range cooker owners run on, 19kg and 47kg propane, have no price on the shop at all: Flogas asks you to phone or request a quote.

This page sets out every Flogas bottle price the shop publishes, what the cylinder charge is, which empties Flogas will take in exchange (Calor is not one of them), how to judge a 47kg quote, and how long a 47kg bottle lasts a range cooker.

Flogas gas bottle prices, October 2026

These are the prices on the Flogas online shop, read on 21 October 2026. They assume you are exchanging an empty bottle in the same category. Stockists and retailers set their own prices.

Bottle Price with an exchange With no bottle to swap Price per kg of gas
3.9kg propane £31.49 £78.99 £8.07
6kg propane £37.79 £85.29 £6.30
11kg propane £51.44 £98.94 £4.68
19kg propane Quote only Quote only
47kg propane Quote only Quote only
5kg Gaslight (propane) £46.19 £101.19 £9.24
10kg Gaslight (propane) £66.14 £121.14 £6.61
4.5kg butane £31.49 £78.99 £7.00
7kg butane £40.94 £88.44 £5.85
13kg butane £56.69 £104.19 £4.36

The “no bottle to swap” column is our own sum: the shop price plus the £47.50 cylinder charge for the small cylinder category, or £55 for Gaslight. The per-kg column is the exchange price divided by the weight of gas. Flogas does not sell a 15kg butane bottle; its largest butane size is 13kg.

The pattern is the same as every other supplier’s: the smaller the bottle, the more you pay per kilogram. A 3.9kg propane bottle costs about 72% more per kilogram than an 11kg one.

The volatility charge on top

Each product page says a “market volatility charge” is added automatically, once per cylinder, and “may move up or down over time”. Flogas does not publish the amount. Check the basket total before you pay, because the price on the product page is not the whole bill.

The cylinder charge: what you pay without an empty

Flogas owns its bottles. If you are not handing one back, you pay a cylinder charge for each bottle you buy. On the shop in October 2026 it is:

  • £47.50 for the small cylinder category, which covers 3.9kg, 4.7kg, 6kg and 11kg propane and 4.5kg, 7kg and 13kg butane, and for Leisure Gas.
  • £55 for Gaslight bottles.

The product pages call it non-refundable. That is different from Calor’s Cylinder Refill Agreement, which lets you claim a partial refund when you return a bottle (see our Calor gas bottle prices page). With Flogas, the charge is a one-off cost you get the value from by swapping empties for full bottles for as long as you keep using them.

Under the Flogas cylinder agreement, the bottles remain Flogas’s property, should only be filled with Flogas gas, and must be returned when you no longer want them. Its returns page lets you book a collection of unwanted Flogas bottles.

Which empty bottles Flogas will swap

This is where Flogas differs most from Calor. For the small cylinder category, Flogas accepts empties from a long list of other brands, more than 100 names on the drop-down on its 11kg product page, including BP Gas, Shell Gas, Totalgaz, Butagas, Gala Gas and Gaspak. An empty from any of them, in the same category, avoids the cylinder charge.

Calor is not on the list. You cannot hand in a Calor bottle and pay only the Flogas gas price. If you are switching from Calor, either pay the Flogas cylinder charge, or carry on with Calor and return your Calor bottles to Calor.

Large bottles follow a stricter rule: Flogas says they can only be exchanged for the same cylinder type and size, so an empty 47kg Flogas propane bottle swaps for a full 47kg Flogas propane bottle.

Why there is no 47kg price, and how to judge a quote

The 47kg and 19kg product pages carry no price. Flogas tells customers to call 0800 574 574 or submit an enquiry for a quote, and 47kg delivery runs to five to eight working days. Many range cooker owners on bottled gas end up on a regular delivery arrangement with Flogas or a local stockist, so the price you pay is the one you are quoted.

The way to judge a quote is to turn it into a price per kilogram and per kWh of heat. A 47kg propane bottle holds roughly 650 kWh, at about 13.9 kWh per kg:

47kg quote (exchange) Per kg Per kWh of heat
£100 £2.13 15.3p
£110 £2.34 16.8p
£120 £2.55 18.4p
£130 £2.77 19.9p

Compare that with the 11kg propane price on the Flogas shop at £4.68 per kg, about 33.6p per kWh. A 47kg bottle should come in far cheaper per kilogram; if a quote is anywhere near the 11kg rate, ask again or try another stockist. Ask whether the quote includes delivery and the volatility charge, and whether a two-bottle setup gets a better rate.

For a whole house, bulk LPG in a tank is usually cheaper again per unit; our bulk LPG price per litre page has the current figures.

Flogas against Calor, size for size

Using each supplier’s own published prices, checked in October 2026 (Calor’s on 5 October, Flogas’s on 21 October):

Bottle Flogas (exchange) Calor refill
3.9kg propane £31.49 £28.00
6kg propane £37.79 £32.00
11kg (Flogas) or 13kg (Calor) propane £51.44 for 11kg £45.50 for 13kg
4.5kg butane £31.49 £33.00
7kg butane £40.94 £36.00
13kg (Flogas) or 15kg (Calor) butane £56.69 for 13kg £56.50 for 15kg

On the published figures, Calor is cheaper on most sizes, and its mid-size propane bottle holds more gas for less money. The comparison is not perfectly like for like: Calor publishes suggested prices for its stockists’ counters, while Flogas’s figures are its own online shop prices. Both add a surcharge that neither publishes. Where Flogas can win is on the first bottle, if you already hold an empty from one of the brands it accepts.

How long a 47kg bottle lasts a range cooker

A burner rated at 3kW on full for an hour uses 3 kWh, about 0.22kg of propane. Add up a normal day and divide it into the 650 kWh in a 47kg bottle:

Daily gas use Typical kitchen 47kg bottle lasts 19kg bottle lasts
2 kWh Hob most days, oven once or twice a week About 11 months About 4 months
3.5 kWh Hob daily, oven for an hour most days About 6 months About 11 weeks
6 kWh Large range, two ovens, family cooking About 16 weeks About 6 weeks

These are worked examples. The LPG gas bottle calculator runs the sum from your own burner ratings and cooking times. A range cooker on outside bottles should run on propane: butane stops vaporising properly in cold weather. The cooker must be set up for LPG by a Gas Safe registered engineer; our LPG cooker guide covers conversion kits.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a Flogas gas bottle refill? On the Flogas shop on 21 October 2026, with an empty to exchange: 6kg propane £37.79, 11kg propane £51.44, 7kg butane £40.94 and 13kg butane £56.69, including VAT. A market volatility charge is added at checkout.

How much is a Flogas 47kg propane bottle? Flogas does not publish a 47kg price. You need to call 0800 574 574 or request a quote online. Divide the quote by 47 to compare it per kilogram with smaller bottles.

Is the Flogas cylinder charge refundable? No. Flogas’s product pages describe the £47.50 cylinder charge, or £55 for Gaslight, as non-refundable. You avoid it by exchanging an empty bottle from an accepted brand in the same category.

Can I swap a Calor bottle for a Flogas one? No. Calor is not among the brands Flogas accepts in exchange, so you would pay the cylinder charge. Flogas does accept many other brands, including BP Gas, Shell Gas and Totalgaz, for its small cylinder category.

How long does a 47kg Flogas bottle last on a range cooker? It holds about 650 kWh. A kitchen using 3.5 kWh a day gets about six months; heavy use on a large range can empty it in around 16 weeks.

Is Flogas cheaper than Calor? On published prices in October 2026, Calor is cheaper for most bottle sizes. Flogas can be cheaper to start with if you already have an empty from a brand it accepts, because you avoid paying for a new cylinder.
